Angela (she/her) is a musician and music educator from Amiskwacîw Wâskâyhkan (Edmonton) who began manifesting a reality as a performer from a young age by setting up audiences of stuffed animals to sing to. As a child, Angela’s musical tastes ranged from Britney Spears to Metallica and beyond. As a teen, she settled on the bass as her primary instrument after attending a Kool & The Gang concert and experiencing what she calls a “funk awakening.”

Music Instructor

Since 2009, Angela has taught and mentored hundreds of students in one on one and group settings. She has developed curricula and lesson plans for programs ranging from musical discovery for toddlers to career development for up and coming professionals. Angela currently teaches rock bands and private lessons at The Sarah McLachlan School of Music as well as private lessons in person and online from her home studio in Edmonton.

Angela has hundreds of performances and recordings under her belt, exemplifying that her bass expertise ranges from the stage to the studio. She is the co-founder and co-leader of the band Mercy Funk, and often accompanies dozens of artists in a wide variety of genres as a freelance musician. Angela obtained a Bachelor of Music from MacEwan University with a Major in Performance in 2022.
